From Glass to Grass
Have you ever wondered how our milk was made? Come on lets go find out. Did you know cows eat up to 70kg’s of grass a day? That's a lot. The cow swallows the grass and then it
goes to the rumen the biggest part in a cow’s stomach. Then it’s off to the
second stomach part to be squashed into little pieces called cud. Then the cow
swallows the chewed up cud and off it goes to the third part of their stomach to
be mashed up even more. It’s off to the forth part. Now it’s off to the part
called cows GUT. I know what you’re thinking. Ewe! This leads us to the end.
Some off the good stuff travels into the blood going to the cows’
udders.

Grass to Glass
Did you know that our milk is liquid sunshine? I will take you through the journey from grass to glass. Well this is how it goes. You don’t get your milk straight from the shop, it actually starts in the farm where the cows eat 70kg of grass. It goes through the first 2 stomachs and crushes. It then makes the cow burp which is quite weird. It then moves to the next 2 stomachs it crushes again and gets turned into milk that you drink. After that, the cows are moved to a milking shed where they get milked. The farmers put a hygienic moisturizer on before the cups. This helps the milk come out faster and easier to suck. They then put on the cups and the milk gets transferred into the tankers after it has been milked. The tankers take the milk to a milking place so the milk can get processed and bottled. It is kept in a cold room called a silo. People then have to test the milk and also label the milk after bottling. After this whole process your milk gets delivered to the shop and you buy to use in coffees, milos, cereal, teas and a lot of other stuff.

From grass to glass
Hi I’m here to tell you about how grass is turn into a glass well not literally. Firstly the cow eats a lot of grass in fact 70kgs of grass. A day that’s more than me and my sister’s weight putTogether. Then when it has eaten a lot of. Grass it chews and chews and chews then it swallowsGoes through two
tomachs and then they
Burp it up and then the
food comes up then they
Chew it up for one
minute then swallow it again then it goes
through
The next two stomachs and then breaks into little tiny pieces than
It goes through their
blood stream than into the utter. The second part is when the teat’s go on to the 4 utters and then
they suck the milk out then it goes into a big tank then it is ready to be
picked up from a Fonterra truck than off to the factory it goes. When it is
there it is put in to a big machine that separates the curds from the liquid the
curds are used to make cheese. part3 is when it is packed and that is what I’m going to tellyou about the factory has labels fonts and much more for the
dairy products to packed in but the milk label isCool because it tells you when it was
packed. The last part is now when it goes off to the
shops and is ready for a cup of tea or coffee
for me and for you
Good bye for
now
